4 Choose Your Own Adventure Recipes to Make with Kids

Snack time can go several different ways, depending on kids’ preferences. Offering multiple options may sound like effort, but everyone loves to help when they can design their own dish and be proud of a tasty outcome. We created a game that leaves everyone a winner to show kids how flavors come together and make foods delicious! Each combo tastes great, but subtle differences matter when developing a flavor palate.

Follow these steps to create your perfect snack:

  1. Select your snack-type
  2. Choose your base
  3. Choose your primary topping
  4. Choose your secondary topping

Adventure #1: Savory Toast

Ingredients:

Base: Avocado Mash Spread (1 serving)

  • ½ Avocado, pitted, peeled, and mashed
  • ½ Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • Pinch of Kosher Salt

Primary Toppings (1 serving)

  • 2 Tomato slices
  • 2 Radishes, sliced

Secondary Toppings (1 serving)

    • ¼ C. Microgreens
    • 1 oz. Goat Cheese

Directions:

  1. Mix together all ingredients for the avocado mash and spread on one slice of toasted Canyon Bakehouse Mountain White Bread.
  2. Add primary and secondary toppings as desired.

Adventure #2: Sweet Toast

Ingredients:

Base: Honey Almond Butter (1 serving)

  • 2 Tbsp. Raw Almond Butter
  • 2 tsp. Honey
  • Pinch of Kosher Salt

Primary Toppings (1 serving)

  • 1 Handful Fresh Berries
  • ¼ Apple, sliced

Secondary Toppings (1 serving)

  • ½ tsp. Chia Seeds
  • 2 tsp. Chocolate Shavings
  • ¼ tsp. Cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. Honey

Directions:

  1. Mix together all ingredients for the honey almond butter and spread on one slice of toasted Canyon Bakehouse Mountain White Bread.
  2. Add primary and secondary toppings as desired.

Adventure #3: Tomato Sauce Pizza Bagel

Ingredients:

Base: Tomato Sauce (1 Serving)

  • 1 C. Prepared Marinara or Pizza Sauce

Primary Toppings (1 Serving)

  • 2 oz. Shredded Mozzarella
  • 1-2 oz. Goat Cheese

Secondary Toppings (1 Serving)

  • 1 Tbsp. Sliced Olives
  • 3 Mushroom slices
  • 1 Handful Spinach
  • 2 Marinated Artichoke Hearts, halved

Directions:

  1. Spread the tomato sauce on one half of a toasted Canyon Bakehouse Plain Bagel. Add primary and secondary toppings as desired.
  2. Place under the broiler for 2-4 minutes, until the edges of the bagel are golden and the cheese is melted.

Adventure #4: Pesto Sauce Pizza Bagel

Ingredients:

Base: Pesto Sauce (1 Serving)

  • 2 Tbsp. Prepared Pesto

Primary Toppings (1 Serving)

  • 2 Tbsp. Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 oz. Shredded Asiago Cheese

Secondary Toppings (1 Serving)

  • ¼ C. Caramelized Onions
  • 2 oz. Rotisserie Chicken
  • 1-2 Tomato Slices
  • 1 Roasted Red Pepper, sliced

Directions:

  1. Spread the pesto on one half of a toasted Canyon Bakehouse Plain Bagel. Add primary and secondary toppings as desired.
  2. Place under the broiler for 2-4 minutes, until the edges of the bagel are golden and the cheese is melted.
